Abbey Martini

  • 2oz gin
  • 2oz orange juice
  • ½oz maraschino liqueur
  • ⅛oz vermouth
  • 4 dashes Angostura Bitters
Shake, strain.

Unpleasant right out of the gate, and doesn't get better. Everything is lost here beneath the maraschino; I could not have told you that this was a gin drink. Definitely powerful, though - the maraschino is itself 32%, so this is a big drink. If you end up having to drink two because your wife doesn't like hers, be even more careful. Lesson learned: when making a strange new cocktail, start with one.

  1. Ugh, I feel like I could tell this was going to be bad by the recipe.
    1) Bitters never work with juice. I regret it every time I try
    2) It's insane to call that a martini, that's a gin and juice with bitters, maraschino and vermouth, bleh
This is what you get when you go through the book blind I guess!
