A cocktail a day keeps cirrhosis in play!

I like a drink. That's pretty well established. But lately I find that I'm a little bored. I tend not to venture outside the dozen or so standard staples - martini, margarita, old fashioned, cuba libre, mule, caucasian, what have you. Experimentation has fallen by the wayside, new recipes chosen at random, if at all.

That's why we're here. Things are going to change. We're going to get a little bit more scientific. A little more systematic. A little... alphabetical. That's right: I'm going to take my cocktail book, and I'm going to drink my way through it, start to finish.

We all have one, a recipe book that we bring out at parties to play with and show off. Some are better than others, but most have one thing in common - 95% of the content might as well not be there. But no longer. Mine has served me well over the past decade or so, and it's time I gave it the respect it deserves, the only way I know how.

I imagine this will take a very, very long time - there are at least a thousand recipes here. But hey, I've got nowhere to be. No matter how gimmicky or how cliché, if it's in there, I'm going to drink it. And rate it (scientific, remember?).

If I can turn a healthy-ish liver into a healthy-ish cocktail database, that seems like a fair trade to me.
