Worth a three month layoff to source an affordable bottle of Chartreuse? (I love you, Seattle, but $50 before taxes for a half bottle? Really? Yes, yes, I know, it's made by monks. Thousand year old recipe, yes yes. Still!) Well, probably not. But there is a lot to like here. Every ingredient is at least 40%; if you want to pretend you're in a speakeasy, you could do a lot worse. Though their ingredients can't have been this good. This is a straight shot to flavour town - between the gin, the bitters, and the madness that is Chartreuse, in the end it's almost too much. The tastes never quite marry, but you really want them to.
